McCarthy once remarked to me, "a little bit of organ makes every piece of music better."

You have quoted me out of context and thus completely distorted my meaning. I probably should sue you. And I would too, if I could afford to.

What I actually said was:
"Every bit of music is made better when the organ is added to it."

How could you have gotten it so wrong, unless you deliberately meant to misquote me and twist my meaning?

Ha! Did I really say that?

I do know that as soon as the electric organ sound comes into play in a song, I immediately notice it and approve.

When I was a teenager, my favorite musical instrument was (surprise!) the electric guitar. In my mid to late twenties, after seriously discovering Jazz, my favorite instrument became the tenor saxophone.

Then a little later, I rediscovered Brian Auger, and remembered that somehow I always liked 'Lazy' even better'n 'Smoke On The Water'. That's when the light bulb went off in my mind and I realized that no instrument appeals to me more than the electric organ.

Even I must admit that it seems a wee bit o' odd to the ear to hear these Christmas standards played this way, with the organ as the featured instrument. Booker T is fantastic - his '60s band was the ultimate backing group - but I would need to hear these a few more times to get used to them.

I liked 'em though, and one of these would have made a good contestant in a Christmas-themed BOTB. Maybe I'll use one next year.

~ D-FensDogg
'Loyal American Underground'Stephen T. Once saw Billy Preston, (he opened for Jimi Hendrix) he wailed on his keyboard at that concert!Dixie@dcreliefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11558671709412200904noreply@blogger.com
