Booker T. has come home.
Jones recorded Potato Hole in 2009 with Patterson Hood producing and Hood's band, The Drive By Truckers, backing.
And it is Potato Hole that is languishing in the Vault this week.
A couple of years ago, Stephen T. McCarthy and I went to see Booker T on my birthday-which technically means Booker T. played my birthday party-well, he signed my copy of "Potato Hole," anyway.
I knew I had heard that name before somewhere, and then you said the magic word - McCarthy. I've heard Green Onions (through him I believe), and I like what I hear here. Off to the Vault...
ReplyDeleteAlso, Potato Hole. What a name for an album.
Bryan-
DeleteI'd also encourage you to check out the Drive-By Truckers-they've got some great stuff as well. I may have to put one up in the vault on of these weeks.
Seems like I remember you talking about this concert on your blog... I didn't realize we'd been blog buddies that long!
ReplyDeleteActually it's been quite a few years, Ronin-usually people say it seems like longer (and they don't mean that in a good way!).
DeleteThat is a great album (I play mine frequently) and BOOKER T. seemed like a really nice guy, too. Bought my copy of this at the show and he signed mine also.
ReplyDeleteBEER BOY BRYAN:
'GREEN ONIONS' is the song that's playing when everyone is driving out to the field where John Milner is going to race "the wicked Chevy" in 'AMERICAN GRAFFITI'.

But he only signed yours 'cause it was MY birthday...
DeleteWhat's that?
Coincidence? The show was scheduled to go on anyway?
Rats. How do I delete a post....
Always nice to have a legend play your special event! Say, that sounds like a good idea for a business... If, of course you have a lot of connections and seed money.
ReplyDeleteI think it is already done....I remember reading a story where some Arab sheik paid a small fortune to have Mariah Carey play his private party...
