A few years back, several of us had done a blog hop for love songs-here is a link to mine if you have an interesting in reading it.
But love scenes is a different thing altogether.
What is love, really?
A jumble of hormones and pheremones? A chemical reaction? An allergic reaction?
At my age, I've learned that love is war.
Real people seem to simply engage in a battle for supremacy, whether over the checkbook, the side of the bed near the alarm clock, or the remote control.
So for those of you who still look at the opposite sex (or the same sex-I ain't here to judge ya!) through a rose-tinted haze and with the eyes of a poet, let me lay some wisdom down on ya!

This is my entry, and I'm sticking to it!
It can be challenging sometimes, but it doesn't stink for me!

DeleteI don't care what you Casanovas think....
All I can say is...
Sing it with me!

POSTSCRIPT:
Round about 1993 I came to realize that the "Miss Right" I'd been looking for had changed her name to "Ms. Wrong" several years earlier.
I, too, was involved with a Miss Wright who turned out to be all wrong!
DeleteWhen I met her, though, I told her- "Miss Wright-my mother always told me I'd run into you one of these days!"
Actually, you made me laugh. And methinks thou dost protest too much.
ReplyDelete*still laughing*

Well, I doth protest a little in jest...but love sure ain't easy!

Doh! Well, it works out better for some of us than others, that's for sure. Married 14 years, happy, both very much in love. *shrugs*
ReplyDeleteBut I'll bet you guys fight over the remote control sometimes, right?
DeleteI think somehow my generation got the idea that love is always easy-and although I have never been married, I can tell from observing my siblings that it is hard work.
But I am always happy when people feel like you do, Crystal-it makes me sad when people split up.

This song brings back memories. For some reason, I envision me and roller skating. This was a great song to groove to while skating in circles.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been all that successful in my personal life with love, either. Let's face it... my love life most resembles the sinking of the Titanic. BUT, I am still hopeful that it will come around again. Better, this time.
Until then, I will live vicariously through fictional romance. It makes me happy:)
I'll do you one better, Robin-mine more closely resembles the Hindenburg!

This has been my anthem on several occasions. I stick with it too.

DeleteI hope you have many other stories where romance bloomed!
Love shouldn't always stink!

ReplyDeleteIt's also a nightly battle for controls of the blankets. It's arguing over who has to wash dishes and who has to clean up after the dog's projectile diarrhea (you're closer, I did it last time, or my favorite, he's yours). The only moment I'll truly rest is when I'm dead... and I'm okay with that.
Of course Bryan, when you can speak openly with a woman about projectile diarrhea, you know it must be true love!
DeleteLOL, I love it! You and Liz could commiserate on the smelly nature of love and the approaching Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for participating!
Well one thing is true-at my age (old) and marital status (single), February 14 is just another Friday night (in my best Sam Cooke voice) and I ain't got nobody, I got some money 'cause I just got paid

You're funny!
ReplyDeleteGood song. I can think of a few instances in my life where blasting this song while having a drink (or two, or three) would have been appropriate. Now that I'm married with two kids, I definitely don't see love through rose-tinted glasses, though I do put them back on occasionally while writing a love scene.
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view (never married, mind you), it's the times you spend with those tinted glasses off that define love.
