IN THE VAULT 06/22/2015

J. J. Grey & Mofro have been putting out some fine southern-fried blues soul funk rock for almost fifteen years.

This week's Vault entry features the band's latest album.

  1. "Southern-fried blues." I'd say that's the first time I've ever heard that term. I really like this, though. Even if apparently it'll go straight to my midsection and shoot my cholesterol levels through the roof.

    Off to the vault...

    1. Remember, Bryan-it's the good cholesterol!

    2. Just had to come back and say this: after a good solid listen via the Vault I bought this album because I enjoyed the hell out of it. Favorite track is either A Night To Remember or the above posted Everything Is A Song.

Also, I think it's no mere coincidence that I was working on our newest novel while jamming out to this album. Current chapter title? "Kentucky Fried Ebola." It's not just good cholesterol, it's great!

    3. I think it was a review in Relix that introduced me to this band, but I love their sound!

Listening to one of their other albums (Brighter Days) now.

    1. Not your normal style of music, Alex, but if you're ever in a down-home southern funky chillin' mood, this does the trick!
