Former drummer for Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Stephen Becker, died at age 61 after a brief illness.
With the Jukes, Becker opened for such bands as the Rolling Stones, Journey, J. Geils Band and Led Zeppelin, as well as headlining venues, making numerous television and radio appearances.
Becker also owned his own recording studio that catered to the major artists of the '70s and early '80s.
While the Jukes never achieved the commercial acclaim that many felt was their due, Becker was able to spend his life in an around music, something many simple dream of.
In what I thought was a very cool request, the family asked that in lieu of flowers or donations, fans perform a random act of kindness in memory of Steve.
