Interrupting the Christmas music posts for a sad reason...
Another rock great goes on to the studio in the sky...
Joe Cocker died yesterday, aged 70, after a battle with cancer.
The Sheffield-born singer had a career lasting more than 40
years, with hits including You Are So Beautiful and Up Where We Belong.
His agent Barrie Marshall said Cocker, who died after
battling lung cancer, was "simply unique".
One of my favorite Joe Cocker memories was his Saturday Night Live appearance...
We will miss you, Joe!
I've never been a big Cocker fan, but it's getting too close for comfort. I think I will link this week's Time Machine here for the eulogy, if that's okay.
ReplyDeleteI always liked him-sadly, will never get the chance to see him live.
DeleteYeah, seventy is not that far off for me either...it's closer than 30...
Almost forgot-no problem re: the link-no need to ask!
DeleteHe certainly was unique!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad. Didn't realize he was that old or that he was sick.
The age is no a shock to me-he started in the sixties, so he's in the ballpark of his contemporaries.
DeleteI had no idea he was sick either-he toured extensively last year (2013)-now I wish I had tried to see him (never have).
I left my last comment before I saw that SNL clip. Wrapping presents and when I came back to see if you replied, I clicked on it. That was something, and says a lot about Joe and John.
