IN THE VAULT 06/15/2015

Today the Vault does not feature music, but comedy.

Bill Hicks was a comic who rose to fame during the 1980's, touring constantly and featured on several high profile cable specials.

His material was often controversial, but I always felt that he had some good points. And he was funny as shit.

Why today?

Why not!

  1. Another great artist that I don't need to checkout via vault because I've got it myself. This actually brings back good memories of driving cross country (moving Brandon back from Chicago). The two of us listened to Bill Hicks for at least half the trip. Really made the time fly. And funny how a lot of his stuff still holds up today, if not more than ever.

    1. I was thinking the same thing (about his material holing up)....good thing for his material....bad thing for humanity

  2. Well, I agree with his philosophy and he is pretty funny. I don't recall ever buying a comedy album before, but I enjoy listening to comedians as long as they don't get overly raunchy.

    1. The only two comics albums I own are Carlin and Hicks, although I do have a handful of comedy DVD's. Kind of like movies, though-once you've seen it, hard to revisit it.

  3. He is so funny! My husband is a Bill Hicks fan. I agree with Arlee, I don't mind them as long as they start dropping the Fbomb every other word again again again. Not that I don't like the Fbomb but it gets old when a comedian has to include it no matter what. The only comedian album I ever owned was Steve Martin when he did King Tut. That was a long time ago.

    1. I kind of don't hear the language anymore...not sure if that is good or bad...I remember the "Tut" skit from SNL, and rermember some of the other stuff from that era-Steve managed to be funny and clean.

Cosby was the same-not forgiving his transgressions, but I am sad his legacy had to get tarnished.

That's why I do not get too wrapped up in entertainers beyond their product...I suspect I would not personally like most of them.
