"C" is for...

Cryptic Vision
CRYPTIC VISION "OF INFINITE POSSIBILITIES"

With progressive rock being the well-kept secret that it is, it should come as no surprise that even among prog afficianados there are some bands that seem to fly under the radar.

Such is the case with Cryptic Vision-it is a mystery to me why they are not better known.

It certainly isn't down to lack of musical ability, songs, hooks and prog timings as these guys have all of the chops.  After a five year gap they are back with the conclusion to their trilogy 'Moments Of Clarity In A World Of Infinite Possibilities'. Since the three titles of the albums make up the name of the trilogy, the final installment is named Of Infinite Possibilities.

The talent behind Cryptic Vision has a fairly impressive resume in the rock world, with  songwriter, drummer, guitarist and keyboard player Rick Duncan joined by vocalist Todd Plant (Eyewitness, Millenium), keyboard player Howard Helm (Zon, Refugee), bassist Sam Conable and guitarist Tim Kesse with guests like David Ragsdale (Kansas) and Gary Schutt, among others.
This is prog that is very much living in today but not ignoring the influences of great bands of the past, melded together into complex musical arrangements that are off the scale. Intricate sounds and lush harmony vocals are the order of the day, in a puree of Spock's Beard, Gentle Giant, Kansas and Presto Ballet. This is music with incredible depth that gets richer with repeated listening.

They may not be the most prolific when it comes to releases but the same can be said of most of the bands in the genre. If you enjoy prog you owe it to your ears to investigate further.
